A busy week of firsts! – Little Loves

It has been a busy week this week, starting a new routine with the girls both starting at their new school and preschool. Georgie is attending a small local primary school and went straight into full days on Monday morning, and it has been a great success.

Lydia started preschool on Wednesday and went again Friday, with much excitement. She just turned two and a half in the last week of August, which is the preschool’s minimum starting again, so she is the smallest and youngest there – but it’s certainly not stopping her! I know our littlest girl is going to absolutely thrive there – Georgie went five mornings a week for a year and came out of her shell so much, it’s a lovely environment for little ones.

This week, we’ve…

Read

I’ve been enjoying Ali McNamara’s “The Little Flower Shop by the Sea” which was released this summer, and is a fun & slightly magical read. As well as this, some random Kindle Unlimited books, and some old favourites too. I’ve just downloaded the entire Harry Potter series onto my kindle as well, to read once again in the next few weeks.

I snapped the girls reading this Knight Puzzles book together, with Georgie telling Lydia what she had to do for each puzzle, and asking her to find the different objects hidden on each page. Georgie and Lydia love looking at books together, and this series is great as Georgie soon learns the different puzzles on each page and then they can do them together – perfect for a bit of quiet time.

As well as Knight Puzzles, we have Astronauts, Pirates, and Cowboys. There are quite a few more in the series too, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one or two appear under the Christmas tree this year. My Mum bought these for them and we highly recommend them!

Watched

I’ve been getting my geeky gaming side on and enjoying watching Co-Optitude and Table Top on the Geek and Sundry YouTube channel this week. As well as nerdy YouTube viewing, I’ve been steadily working my way through season 2 (or Now TVs incorrectly numbered season 3) of Switched at Birth. It’s a fun show which also gives you a nice insight into how difficult it is to be a deaf teen in the modern world.

Lydia is on an Umizoomi kick at the moment so I’ve been half watching a bit of that, too!

Wore

The most exciting outfit this week was undoubtedly Georgie’s school uniform! She started school on Monday and has very much enjoyed her first week. I think she is definitely going to be happy there, and she looks so much older all of a sudden, donning a school uniform every day!

Heard

I have been walking the school run to the sounds of the Grey’s Anatomy Music Event soundtrack. I prefer their versions of many of the songs to the originals and the cast are, on the whole, surprisingly great singers. I really love the musical episode of Grey’s Anatomy, which is one of my favourite TV shows anyway.

Made

Georgie and Lydia both brought their first school / pre-school artwork home with them this week! Both of them have made several creations, but here are their firsts:

and lastly…

This week I had my first mornings home alone and although Wednesday wasn’t a full morning thanks to form filling in at preschool, I really loved the time to myself. I was able to get a job done, sneak in some me time, and catch up a bit with boring stuff like housework. It’s amazing how much more you can get done in three hours without any small people around!

Vacuuming the living room was amazing – everything I picked up off the floor to clear it stayed tidied away, and nobody ran away giggling and squealing! Oh dear… it’s sad the things that make you happy as a parent.

I’m hoping that the three mornings a week will give me time to stay on top of my emails and give me some much needed peace and quiet to fit in some work time. We are paying £22.50 a week for Lydia to attend preschool three mornings, which is an amazing price, and I will be trying to pay for it by increasing my earnings to match! It’s definitely the right decision to start her though, as her first two overjoyed sessions have shown.

Have a great weekend!
